Understanding Dates & Times
Your Time, Your Way
Steward Horse shows all times in your preferred timezone. You can set this in User Settings > Display Timezone.
- Fixed timezone (default): Pick your timezone and all times display in it, no matter where you are.
- Follow my device: Times automatically adjust to wherever you are. Enable with the "Use my device's timezone" toggle in User Settings.
How Event Times Work
When you create a ride or trip, Steward Horse records the timezone of your organization — the timezone where the event physically happens. If you're invited to an event in a different timezone, you'll see both times:
- The local time at the event location (when you need to be there)
- The time in your timezone (for planning your day)
If the event is in your timezone, you'll see just one time.
Dates Without Times
Some fields are just dates — birthdays, certification expirations, trip start dates. These don't have a timezone because "March 15" means March 15 everywhere. You'll never see these shift by a day.
Your Organization's Timezone
Each organization (farm, ranch, club) has its own timezone in Organization Settings > General > Timezone. This is the default when you create rides or trips. Changing it doesn't change existing events.
Audit Timestamps
Records show when they were created and modified:
- In lists: "2 hours ago", "3 days ago"
